Hi - I have one Koi about 8-10 years old, platinum ogon and about 21" in length. There are 10 koi all healthy and spotless. Coming out of winter, the ogon has one white round raised pimple I noticed about 3-4 weeks ago. It's closed but I'm hoping it doesn't explode from bacteria under the scales. Water temp is now about 58F, they've all been eating well as biofilter is now on for a month. Skimmer is on all year returning through waterfall keeping the biofilm alive and well. I keep a constant 45-50F winter temp. My bio seeds quickly so feeding now isn't a problem. All water parameters are perfect.

Anyone have thoughts on this raised pimple like bump. It's about 1/4" round. I'm thing and hoping it's just koi pox and will vanish on it's own. So far, there's nothing to treat and I really don't want to anesthetize the ogon to take a scaping for the scope.

Thoughts??? Thanks...

@barryian Have tested your water recently just to make sure somethings not off? Without seeing it my first guess would be koi pox. Other more knowledgeable members would be able to take a stab at it but would most likely request more info as well. If you post water parameters from a liquid drop test kit and a photo that would help a lot!

Sounds like pox. Unsightly but nothing to do but let it go away on it's own. Some years we have a couple koi that show signs in early spring, other years nothing. So far this year they all look good.

Thanks, much appreciated but ponding 25 years. Only had Koi pox on back fin area about 15 years ago. Just looking for reassurance. Water parameters are always right on.
