well almost, mis-calculated my pea gravel so will grab some more tomorrow. Garden centre said first shipment of pond plants is due first week of May, that will give me enough time to frame in the tub with cedar. stay tuned.

Cedar is on, happy with the way it turned out. Still waiting on plants, next weekend according to the local garden centre. Can see the bottom of the pond for the first time in 3 years, have been pulling lots of interesting treasures from the depths :)

I just caught this update! Looks great! @ColinD - hopefully you were able to get plants for your bog by now!
added some marsh marigold, a taro, mini papyrus and a variegated iris, wasn't sure how much growth to expect from them this summer so I think thats all I'll go with for now.
Its been an extremely dry spring and the pond is certainly reflecting that, I fill the pond from our rain catchment barrel and its been empty for a few weeks now. I have a carbon pre-filter that we use for our hot tub and I'm thinking about putting that on the garden hose and topping the pond up?

Honestly I wouldn't even worry about the filter. Adding small amounts of water to top off the pond shouldn't be an issue.

The bog looks great! Just an advance warning - the marsh marigold will start to die back when it gets too hot. They look glorious in the spring but you'll think it's dying if you get a string of hot days.
