This is growing in my turtle bog. I'm pretty sure it's something I planted on purpose....I think.....

It looks like it's about to flower soon :)

Suggestions, anyone? (other than the fact that it's in need of fertilizer)

@addy1 I just realize that the "time" on my time & temp. thingy isn't correct. The temp. is OK, according to local WeatherBug (91F). It's not just off on the hour side, but minutes as well [iPad says it's 1:10pm and temp. thingy says it's 4:53).

.....and 4 minutes later, it's still saying 4:53.....OK, hadn't noticed, it's STUCK!

Is there anything you can do to fix it? I can PM my password to you again if you need that.

It looks like the stuff that grows at my other house and garden center told me it was poke weed and it can be bad at times to eat .Sometimes it can be poisonous during certain times of the year

UPDATE: It's sure taking its sweet time, but it is FINALLY starting to bloom.

Seeing this, does it help with identification?

It looks like lobelia - maybe cardinal flower?

Edited to say - maybe not. Not when I look at the top view of that flower.

AHA! I have that plant. The branches were broken and I just stuck the broken pieces in the gravel and it just kept going, sending new roots off of the broken part. Now it is budding like yours!

@Lisak1 @HARO I Googled it, and while I agree that the flower that's trying to pop out does resemble a few pictures of lobelia varieties, I can't find anything that looks like my actual plant -- esp. the leaves. PLEASE, if you have a specific variety in mind, can you post the name/picture.

I do have a couple of cardinal flower plants, but they come no where close to resemling this plant. Totally different leaf structure.

Lobelia cardinalis. I think. Mine is a redish version like these but the new branches that just sprouts are green.

Nope, not in the least. I have a regular cardinal flower and the 2 plants don't look anything alike. Maybe it's a mutant!
