Hi,

Decided at add a couple floating pond planters. Something new to my pond. What would be something that blooms and is colorful to add the planter? That lives and doesnt take over. Thanks much for your guidance.

Totally agree with gbbudds: Sunpatiens is another name they are sometimes given. They will bloom until it's cold then you can bring them in.

to keep plants from taking over the pond you can root trim plants and it does not harm the plant . That is why fish love plants , TASTY ROOTS . But make sure you take them out of their pots they came in and clean the roots well . You never know what is lurking in those roots . Repot them and do not put them in the pond until you are sure that nothing hid from you I use aquatic soil

Another plant that does fantastic with its feet submerged is hibiscus. I have to growing in a peastone bog 12 inches deep and 2000 gph they are on year three doing very well. Well other than jap bettles devouring the leaves. But they don't touch the flowers go figure.

Agreed, but I apparently got lucky and chose a variety that nothing eats. It's called "Luna Pink Swirl" and the one I have in the bog is growing bigger and better than the ones I have in the ground. It's about 4 years old now.

hibiscus does OK with somethng to root into , but not good if you want it to just float in the water bare root . I tried it . I found out fast it will take over and get really tall and flop over and make a mess . The flowers wiegh down the stems ,
