If you're in an area that is subject to frost/freezing temperatures they won't survive, so you'll have to remove them (otherwise they'll just rot & foul up the water)

They need warmth all year long. I'm in zone 8b and would have to take them out and start all over next year when it's warm again. I've heard they are very hard to keep indoors to try and save them also.

I'm in zone 6b, northeastern PA and remove them in the Fall. They wilt and die as soon as it gets chilly out. They are tropical plants.

I've tried a couple of times to winter them over inside, but our winters are too long. They seem to almost last, but towards the end of winter they die.
You can try to take some inside. Maybe you'll have better luck.
