As some of you know I am being over run by my little red platys. I went out today and bought three new platy's in different colors (had no idea they came in different colors). Even though I have so many I decided to freshen up the gene pool. I don't want up with a bunch of mutant fish in my pond.

I also bought a pair of white platy's they are so cool looking. I put them in my smaller pond in hopes of getting a crop of the white platy's, then I will move the new white ones to the pond.

Does anyone have any idea how often I should add new gene's to the pool - so to speak? And how many at a time?

The other day I caught Mr Heron perched on my deck snacking on some platys (which he is free to have). I had noticed a small decline in them, but I don't have him hanging around with my precious koi and goldfish in there too.
