It's hard to say at this point. It could turn out to be a Kujaku or a Kin Kikikoryu, It's still pretty small and could change quite a bit before it developes it permanant colors.

PondKid, how large is it? It has some really neat looking coloration coming on, and agree with Larkin could change a lot this coming year or two. On my "cheat sheet" I have compiled since last year, Kujaku is "dark net-like marking and red/orange and white coloration" and the other description for the same thing was "metallic with reticulated net-like pattern overlaid with gold, yellow, orange, red." For Kikokuyru, I have "metallic version of Kumonryu" and for Kumonryu I have "solid white doitsu (scaleless) with areas of black - change their color many times in their life span."

I wondered about Matsuba pattern, too, KoiGuy, but what really is the difference between "net-like" and "pine cone pattern (matsuba)" anyhow? They look the same to me.

He is close to 4in, so he is small, but I will keep updating as he grows. :goldfish:

Just an update, the scales are starting to get more shine, next to the face.
I know the pics are bad but he looks really distinct & different in person
