Pond Islands

I built an 18’x10’x2’ pond about 10 years ago, that has a center island that was 3’ diameter. The island has been steadily increasing in diameter, with one side “expanding” about an additional 2’. Any ideas what could be causing this? How to rectify this?

I agree plant roots or possible ground water coming up under the liner causing the liner to push out a bit. Nice looking pond
