Pond liner question

I have a rigid, preformed pond that had started to leak enough that it must be refilled often. Has anyone here ever added a liner over this type of pond to solve the issue? Would there be much risk on damage to the new liner? I would inspect the formed pond before doing this to find out what caused the leak.

why not just toss the preform and use the liner in the same hole? No muss, no fuss.

I yanked and tossed two preforms that cracked and started leaking, years ago, stuck liners in the holes no issue since
