Hello
I’ve had a Belfast sink ‘ fun pond’ for 2 years now , last year I had a frog living in and around it no problem
I added some frogspawn in March and they are doing fine but as you can see from the photos a coating of green algi stuff is on top of the water .
Is it best to scoop it off but I don’t want to also take any tadpoles with it .
If I leave it will it hurt ?
Any advice is welcome
Cheers

Welcome to the forum!

That is a floating aquatic plant. You can pull some of it out or just leave it. Fish love to eat it. I can't see it well enough to tell which one.

I wish I could keep duckweed in my pond. The fish devour it.
I have to keep it in a floating net and when there's enough, I'll release a portion freely into the pond.
The same goes for all my other floaters.

Agree that it looks like duckweed. In their tadpole (larval) stage, frogs are herbivores, and change to carnivores/ insectivores as they morph. I know that when I have taddies, they feed off the pond algae. I don’t know if they can eat something like duckweed or not, but it’s not harmful. It will help “clean” your water.
