pond plants dying

Our little pond is about 4 weeks old. We used 2 old wine barrels one with a liner that has a waterfall spout. It's in the hot sun from about 3:00 on in the day. No fish. All of the plants are looking terrible, limp and some black on the leaf edges. We did try to plant them at the depths recommended. Have not put in any chemicals or food. Anyone out there with ideas?

Use miracle grow every couple of weeks I take my plants out of my pond and put them in a bath of miracle grow and water

since you have no fish just plants you can

I used aquascapes plant fertilizer tablets 2 weeks ago and let me tell you. My plants just exploded with growth and are flowering like crazy right now
