Do any of you use a pond sweeper, or maybe vacuum to clear out leaves and other garden debris? My pond is about 900 gal and I figured I could keep it cleaned out with maybe just a simple type of sweeper. If you've made one yourself or found something that works down at the home improvement store, let me know.

I just use a long handled net to scoop the bottom now and then.

I do the same as j.w - I have a net with a telescoping handle & just scoop out anything that might fall/blow into the pond. I also have a nice long handled 'grabber' that I use to pick leaves, etc... from areas that aren't 'scoopable', such as on the shelves or waterfall.

I'm lazy i designed my negative edge where i could hand the net on a pole and the leaves load themselves into the net.

Thank you folks. I like the idea of the long handle scoops. Where do you purchase such equipment? I don't really have any substantial pond supply shops around me. Are there any online stores where one could find such products?

I would suggest a pool store vs a pond supplier - the ones we purchased in the early years from pond stores didn't last a whole season. The pool net we bought came with two different (replaceable) nets and have lasted us 10 plus years, even though we store it outside.

The fish pond, I will net out debris once in a while,(mabe twice a year). The swimming pond, I vacuum just like you would a regular swimming pool.
