Pond without fish?

Hi!

I live in the UK and have recently moved into a house with a pond 6 feet square by 2 feet deep. The previous owner had fish in the pond and took them with them.
I don't want fish but would like to have a pond with a waterfall that I could dip my feet in on a hot day. I am thinking about putting in a waterfall feature with pump and filter.
Is it possible to have clear water pond without fish?
Do I need to put plants in it?
Is it going to attract lots of midges or other annoying insects?

Thanks for any replies!

Welcome to our forum.

Bugs will be attracted, unless you have maybe minnows to eat them up. Here it would be a mosquito magnet.
You could use chlorine like a swimming pool to keep it clear ie algae growth and to help control the bugs.

You can keep it cleaner without fish. As ADDY said you can also use chlorine. I'm not sure about the mosquito problem but you can easily deal with it.
