Too many people get fish like that and then they dump them in lakes .Look at the lion fish in the NY harbor .Now they have people that kill them and cook them

A quick browse through the photo contests there and I can certainly see the appeal.
A huge issue with keeping and feeding carnivorous fish is being able to supply them with the appropriate diet.
I've seen many instances in the past where for example, "feeder goldfish" are fed to marine lion fishes.
Freshwater goldfish do not have the HUFA (Highly Unsaturated Fatty Acids) that lion fish require in their diet.
Perhaps that other forum can steer this person in the right direction.

A pickerel? I'm familiar with Pickerel weed, but not the fish so had to google that one, it's an American pike, apparently. What would you feed this pickerel on please....assuming you could get hold of one...you do live in the U.K?

So you want to have a pond where you just get to watch one fish eat the other ones? Kind of unfair, don't you think? At least in the wild the prey have SOME chance of escape. Not so in a small pond.
