My big goldfish abdomen has become very swollen. Given the colder weather and that it’s not really spawning season here, I was concerned she might be egg-bound.
I did catch her to examine her more closely. I applied some abdominal pressure and what came out appeared mostly fecal, along with a few eggs. It expelled in a blob rather than a stream. I’m unsure whether this indicates impaction, egg retention, infection, or something else or nothing.
She now has some mild bruising where I applied pressure, so I’m worried I may have caused trauma. What do you think!
