We want to power wash our deck and patio but are concerned about chlorinated water getting into the pond. The pond is tucked into a spot such that there will be some runoff that gets into the pond. Has anyone had to deal with this problem? How did you protect the fish from being exposed to the chlorinated water?

You can cover the pond to minimize spray and debris getting into the pond. As for run off, use a good dechlorinator. You have a very sweet pond:)

We had our patio power washed earlier this spring. They started from the pond and sprayed everything away to the other side so they wouldn't get anything in the pond. I don't think chlorine will be a problem if it's just a small amount of water. How many gallons is your pond?

I suppose you could roll up some old blankets and stuff them right next to the pond edge just to be extra careful of too much water getting in there. Might help to divert the water away also once they are wet.

Don't be too concerned about the chlorine but you should be concerned about what the powerwasher is removing from the deck such as the deck sealant. A plastic sheet even floating on the water surface would be better than nothing.
