Hi all
I am looking at adding a pre filter to my external pump and looking for advice. I have a 1500 gallon garden pond 4ft deep, at present it is run from a bottom drain to A Badu Magic 4 external pump. through a large UV then in to an Easypod filter. The pond itself is raised above ground by around a foot.
The Badu Magic4 is a great pump with one exception, it has a built in filter which is quite small, and blocks up quite often and has to be emptied and cleaned. to overcome the problem I came up with the idea or putting a pre filter before the pump . To save on money I decided to utilise an old aquarium filter pump for the filter, I have sealed the original input and output and added two new ones to take my 40mm piping, also changed the filter medium. ( picture of filter added) . The one thing I am concerned about is does it matter if I fill the pre filter from the top and take the pump feed from the bottom? As taking the feed from the top to the pump would make it easier regarding my new piping. Thanks in advnce for any help given.
