I’m approaching the end of my bog/waterfall/pond build but I’m stuck having an internal debate whether stocking fish is a good idea. Absolutely my preference is to have them, for the kids and all. Probably Shubunkins given the volume of my pond.
I live near a lake and mere yards from the British Columbia wilderness so bears, cougars, and raptor-type birds may pass through from time to time.
I can handle losing fish if it came to it but what I have no interest in doing is replacing a liner, not after every rock has been meticulously laid.
Does anyone have any experience here? Am I playing with fire having fish, just inviting a bear to plunge its claws through my liner? Would a fish cave help or just make any fishing attempt even more violent and ‘stabby’?
Liner is 45 mil EPDM if it matters.
