Pump Shutting On and Off Every 5 Mins

Hello,

I am using a submersible (not sold for pond use, more of a pump-out-your-wet-basement pump) that is definitely covered with water and not clogged, yet it shuts off and comes back on about every 5 minutes. I'm thinking I just need to replace it with a real pond pump, yes?

Yes- that pump is not designed for constant use

Yeah, that pump is most likely not meant for continuous use.
It probably has thermal overload protection that resets when it cools down.
