I was thinking about getting a bigger pump recently to give my waterfall a bit more flow.
I'm currently using a 960 gph laguana pump. There is only about 2' off head.
Something got me thinking that maybe the plumbing is to small. The line I used is 3/4" flex, about a 5' run.
The pump came with a qd fitting that can be used for 3/4,1, and 11/4 I believe by trimming off the extra nipples.
Should I bump up the hose size or get a bigger pump? The pond is only about 300ish gallons.

Bigger pump. Don't know how wide your waterfall is but just a minimal waterfall requires 100 gph per foot of waterfall width.

Okay so pump size is good for that size pond ( that's what I thought)

So the tubing he is using is 3/4, if he used a larger tubing would he get any more flow to the waterfall?

He may, but it will be negligible.I would need to know the pump manufacturer and model number. Actual flow could then be determined by consulting the Performance chart supplied by the manufacturer. If he was lucky enough to get the full 960 gph at the waterfall weir, he would only have enough flow for a 9.6 inch wide minimal waterfall.

I use 1 1/4 inch sump pump hose and have for years ,cheaper at 10 dollars for 25 ft and better yet it fits the laguna quick fittings with just a clamp .You do have to cut it and the smooth part of the hose

I could not find a flow chart on there site but I did find this.
This is the link for the pump.http://www.lagunaponds.com/en_us/laguna-max-flo-960-waterfall-filter-pump/
I did just try and shot a video but the sun is not cooperating with me.
I do divert a little of the water also to my filter which is buried next to the pond and gravities back into it.

You also have to factor in elbows on your pipe that may restrict it more .I have a 2900 gph and a 2400 gph laguna .I am from NJ and retired down here 11 years ago .Lived almost all my life there .In Edison
