I've got a Helix Skimmer and the pump seems to go out about every 2-3 years. The pump is housed inside the skimmer. Now I have a pump on the drain above ground. Its been rock solid for 7 years. What I've been thinking about is exploring the possibility of moving to an above ground pump for the skimmer of course with all the proper conduit. #1 question is has anyone done this and is it worth it? The pump is a 4500gph. The above ground pump is a 6500 gph.
