Do you have shelves in you pond? These are a bad thing when you have coons. They use them like a dining table. I have removed all of my shallow water shelves and I have not have had coons in there scence.

I haven't had a problem ever since I installed a Fishock battery operated fence around the ponds' perimeter. I turn the fence on every evening and the batteries last a long time, amazing. It gives one heck of a punch if you touch it while it is on. Don't ask :)

In england we use sonic deterants for rodents and cats etc would these work for Racoons?

Racoons are not part of our English way of life so luckily I have no experience of the problems you all seem to be facing

I bought sonic deterrent before I bought the fence. It was called a Yard Guard. What a joke that was. It didn't deter anything, even after I moved the setting to high.

Yes, it works great. Not one incident in the time I've had it up. It has probably been at least 6 months.

It would work on anything that touches it. If you put the wire close enough to the ground, but not directly on the ground, the rat's back would touch the wire as it tried to sneak under - and then zap.
I bought mine online from the FiShock website.
