Has anyone had experience with these? Looks like they're used a lot in aquaculture systems -- which would seem to have a big debris load. Lots of You Tube videos available, and they look straightforward. Just curious as to how well they work in "the real world."

From what I have read, they are primarily used in Aquaponics and are efficient only a fairly low flow rates (500-1000 gph). They are purported to be better at removing solids than a swirl type filter.

It is basically a slightly modified settling tank. I could fairly easily modify my settling tank to work like that, and have even tossed around the idea of doing so just to see if it would work better, but frankly I have serious doubts that I would see much of an improvement.
