I don't have any before pictures but I have been watching my small pond slowly show clearing, in bright light, from a thick, green surface algae. I just went out to check on it and found some totally clear areas with just the multiple small green spots, showing in the picture. Is this a normal clearing change?

As a pond matures, plants start to grow and fight for the same nutrients as algae needs to grow , the plants win out.

This almost looks like you have some duckweed or frog bit growing. But yes - this is exactly what we mean when we encourage patience. It will happen.

I thought it might be duckweed too. But looking closer i think it's air bubbles trapped under the algae. They are too small for duck weed.

I have frogbit that's tiny like that. But may just be teensy algae too. It's way more appealing that a thick slime coat though!
