I made a tool to remove string algae out of an extention pole, drilling a hole in the end for a heavy wire that goes through and bent to form a fork about six inched long and two inches wide. The pole with the fork on the end can be extended to any place in the pond. Inserting the forks in to the algae and twisting gathers the algae. In about twenty minitures I cleared the pond of string algae. You can see in the attached picture the amount I pulled out.
