I'm with JW, the only thing that I have done so far is just some clean up of leaves and stuff laying on the bottum of the pond that shouldn't be there. I also did a partial water change, and regular cleaning (rinse) of my pre-filter. My Shubunkin's, and one Sarassa are active and healthy without the chemicals and fussing around with amonia and PH checks. I have found from experience that a well balanced pond will take care of the PH's and amonia levels without my giving it second thought.

Happy ponding,

I usually dump in some bacteria stuff to kick-start the biofilter in the Spring, but we had such a mild Winter this year that it looks like the bacteria survived. Otherwise I never put anything in my water.
