RTF 5500 Triple Filtration System

Hi,

New to ponds but biulding my own at the momment,
Does anyone have any info or pictures on the RTF 5500 Triple Filtration System and how its set up ?

Where did you hear about this filtration system? It has been almost ten years since I have seen this system mentioned. Even then it was not really described.

Is that a reverse-osmosis set-up you're talking about?

I have bought one second hand.
3 chambers with bottom drains for each one.
Very big and heavy

OK. That I am familiar with. Never knew it by that name however.
These systems work well but, as much as I promote adequate filtration, it is really overkill on a typically sized pond. They are entirely gravity feed, as you likely know. They provide an enormous amount of supplemental SSA.
What is the capacity (gallons) of your new pond?

Pond I am biulding is over 3000 gallons

You should have more than enough available bio-filtration potential.

I inherited a pond last year with this system. As you I have no instructions and cannot find any. If you need photos of mine and how its set up let me know. The only issue I have is finding some new sponges , I have just ordered some hozelock sponges which hopefully will do the job.

looks like a smaller version of the filters I saw here at a fish farm .

I would be interested in hearing any further guidance with this as i am in a very similar position.

After various advice and trial and error and even more recent advice I find that if I clean the brushes once a week and also gently clean one of the other two filters containing media once a week ( I mean just rinsing the outside of the bags of alfragog and pipes with pond water) that things seem much better. But still saving up for a drum filter. Oh and I do the sponges twice a week at present, or they block and water level begins to rise to high in the tanks.
