Sand filter

I was given a Pentair TR 100 sand filter for free.

I thought about adding it to my filtration for my pond. I already have 3 filters for the bio/mechanical filtration but thought that the sand filter could be used as a "polishing" filter to help catch the finer stuff.

With it being at the end of my filter run I was thinking of either quilt batting or some type of other media.

What is everyone's thought on this?

Pond is 3000 gallons +/- with about 12 size koi.

That's a pool filter, isn't it? Do you mean you'd replace the sand with some other kind of media?

Yes. No sand something else.
