Selling purple hardy water lilies?

Hi everyone! Next year I REALLY want to grow a purple hardy water lily, and since such a lily would fill my relatively small water garden completely over the course of a year, I was going to divide it each spring and sell one of the resulting divisions. Now here's my question...is it legal to sell a division of any purple hardy water lilies? I understand that some of them are patented and cannot be sold, but does that apply to all purple hardy lilies? Thanks

When I bought my purple fantasy a few years back, no paper work came with it stating I could not sell, share or grow multiples of it.

Joshaeus- it's the Turtle Island Violicious. It was part of a trio, purple, blue and pink.

My purple grows very slowly, I have, in 3ish years, only had one extend its tuber.

Don't think it is the same. Turtle Islands are supposed to be exclusive with their hybrids.

Ah...I've read elsewhere that purple fantasy is not an outrageously vigorous hybrid. I've heard better things about Violicious and especially Detective Erika (though the latter is far too large for my container ponds )
