Couple of weeks ago, the Goldfish pond developed a leak that I was unaware of. I hadn't checked on them in quite a while due to the cold temps. On a warmer day I went out to check on it, and found that there was Ice that had collapsed due to lack of water, about a foot of water in the bottom, and the pump high and dry. It had run dry long enough to burn up and quit. I immediately started adding water. while it was filling I found the leak. A valve had blown off, and allowed water to be pumped over board at 4500gph. Good thing it was quite cold, as the fish weren't very active. And the pump was not drawing water off the bottom.
