Yo, Fellow Pond Lovers!

My little in ground pond (appx. 50"X30"X18") has a real infestation of slime algae. (Note that I regularly apply barley straw extract). The water is clear, but the algae cover the sides with 10" long tentacles, and are very tenacious. I've been scooping out floating scum all summer, until this past week. Temp has been in three digits every day, and the scum disappeared. I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Anyway, should I worry, or just keep my filter clean and wait until fall? My ancient dime store goldfish don't seem to have a problem.

Plants help a lot, not sure if you have plants or not. If it does not bother you can ignore the algae, if it does some use peroxide to help get rid of it which is an extract of barley straw. Good aeration seems to help a little also
