A cheap DIY filter water fall.
Used tool box picked up from garage sale for 5 bucks, 2 old crab traps cut down and filled with poly fill from walmart and pot scrubbies. Water comes up from bottom. We will add some water lettuce or hyacinths when the weather gets warm.

We use this in addition to our large pondmaster filter. Our biggest obstacle is the full sun this time of year. Hoping to have another filter in place next weekend. Had to buy one new pump today (setback) can't build one of those from things laying around the shed.

Sounds like a good idea! I might have to try something like that in my 300 gallon pond. That would be fairly easy to do and I probably have 3/4 of what would be needed already laying around!

In my first pond I used a tote from big box store drilled hole for hose to come in and drilled several holes for water to come back out makes an easy filter and waterfall .I just set the tote in where the waterfall was and with the liner up and around it with stones to cover the small tote and put the lid back on the top and covered it with a flat rock and a dish pan from the dollar store with plants in it
