That paying $399 is worth a pondvac 4. I want to hit sold, but the price is just crazy. And I don't want to build one since I have a pool to.

I have a Pondovac 3 it is better than what I hoped for, which doesn't happen too often, the 4 is even better. I can't remember what I paid but it was pricey and I would do it again. You can get the 4 for $369 through Amazon, If you have time to shop for best price you may find it for less. If you have a bottom drain and the floor of your pond slants towards that drain you may not even need the vac.

I use my shop vac, $26.00 at home depot right now, rigid, with the attachment that sears sales, so you can just dump the water when it is full. Works great for me.

The attachment is around 36 or so. I can find the link if you are interested.

(I like inexpensive, my pond is around 5-6 feet deep reaches all points just fine)

Just dump the water? What about the muck?
I have 2 shop vacs and they do suck well.
But if you have a large one you must empty it somewhere you want the muck to be.
That is hard to do with the big one even if it does have wheels.
I think that shop vacs are a little for a 2000 gallon pond of that size.
Now if they want to do a lot of work the are OK.
I've tried about every vac for ponds that there is and you can't beat a pond-o-vac or the Matala. IMHO

The Matala vac would work for you.

Is that the one they call the Muck Buster, you vacuum for 40 seconds then wait 20 seconds for it to empty. It's about $100 cheaper than the duel pump Pondovac.

Yep! I have one of those too.
The only problem is when you vac leafs on the pond bottom it will stop it up and who wants to stick their arm in the mucky water to clear it.
