I wonder why Nature didn't choose a less violent approach when it designed the mating rituals of some species

One reason I quit feeding. They get a bit as winter ends then on their own. They inhale the eggs.

I really need to get to the hardware store to buy some cotton mop heads, which I plan to float in the pond in an effort to mechanically removed eggs! I thought I had more time.........but I see I best not waste any time !!

I hope mine are to small to be amorous, I am not ready for the spawn yet.
It will happen..................eventually.

I don't encourage survival, the fish get no food from me, so they inhale the eggs. Some fry survive, but so far still have a lot of water room.
