I need advice I have a pond that has a 4 foot wall around the back side. It is covered with pond liner all the way up and I needed to cover the black liner up the wall. I used stacking paver concrete stones from the bottom of the pond about 4 feet down all the way up just past the waterline then stacked natural rocks up the rest of the way. I filled my pond all of the concrete stones are in the water and one row is outside of the water. My pond water has been lowering alot to fast I filled it to waterline a few time in the last couple days but keeps lowering I'm just wondering if these stones are sucking up the water or if I have a leak.

Welcome @debthue44 to the GPF! We'd love to see pictures of your pond!

While any stone - natural or manmade - can absorb water, the amount is limited. So I doubt you would continue to see water loss due to rocks. When you say "fill to the waterline" how much water would you estimate you're adding? How many gallons is your pond? Do you have a waterfall or other water feature?

To reassure you, most "leaks" turn out to be one of two things - a low edge that's allowing water to seep out into the surrounding landscape OR a plumbing leak.

Ah! You read my mind!

So the liner comes completely up the back of the pavers and over the outside edge of the pond, correct?

Are you using the board to keep track of water level?

Do you have liner all the way down your waterfall, too? (Maybe a dumb question... but just to be sure!)

So your water is dropping that low on the wall?

We have had the waterfall and pump off for a few days to see if it is the waterfall leaking out somewere or if it's in the pond area it's for sure pond area and yes we have liner in pond and comes out and up way past water lines. We haven't had this problem before we put paver in the water we can see the pavers absorb the water cause they are still wet looking but we cant figure out if we have a leak now threw the rubber liner or if the pavers are absorbing the water. SO FRUSTRATED

First I thought it must be your waterfall but then I read on and see you shut that off and it still goes lower. If it's the pavers sucking it up then maybe just keep filling and eventually the pavers would stop sucking it up once they get there fill I would think. Otherwise maybe one of the pavers have cut a hole. I can't tell ya anymore than that.

I agree - if the pavers ARE absorbing water, they will eventually get saturated and not be able to absorb anymore. But honestly I can't imagine that they can even absorb enough water that you could notice.

I would let the water level continue to go down until it stabilizes. That will give you an indication of where you might have a leak.

Did you compact the soil and install a underlayment before you installed the liner and did you also install A Wad of underlayment under the pavers ? they can have sharp edges

That looks like a lot of weight resting on the liner. How smooth are the pavers/rocks? I think there is a good chance you punctured the liner. There is a little absorption but I don't think there is enough to account for your water loss.
