Latest update; cement work is finished and the test runs have been far better and livable but, not perfect. The water level is still dropping at about 1/4” an hour. I can live with that. I still need to do the epoxy paint and reassemble the natural rocks.

Now for some pics and the dark side

Probably the most challenging of projects. All the tinny little cracks i would hit with some caulking but make sure it's a paintable exterior caulk .

Still waiting on the weather, to get this finished up. Glad I waited a bit and got a better understanding of more issues. It looks like one more go at it with the hydraulic cement, then the epoxy seal. Once that’s complete, I’ll re-stack the rocks and sit back and enjoy.

This should give everyone here a better idea of what I’m dealing with.

Enjoy!

It was a longer cold
Season than expected but, I got back to work last weekend. Spent some time putting the final coat of the hydraulic cement on the final transition. Tested the water escapement for 3-1/2 hours with far better results. At the end the water was only down an inch or a little more.

I have some Pond Shield epoxy on order and will apply it this weekend, weather permitting. If everything goes well with that, I will start reassembling the rocks into place.

After complete, I still have some small issues, up top that I will address.

doing a scratch coat over a rubber liner is sure to fail any pressure on it any flex and as you have already found out it will crack and splinter . it should be a minimum of an inch if not two thick
imo.

Most all of this base patch at the edge is over an inch thick with hydraulic cement. The spot on the end doesn’t get any main flow and just splash.

This went through a very hard freeze over the winter and did non crack.

The Pond Shield epoxy, should tack care of any additional small unseen leeks. It is stated that this product is flexible so, if true it should handle any temperature movement.

This is my first attempt at something like this and have and will learn mor about the success and or failure.

that's how i know , from years of construction unless on a very solid base thin coats of mortar base products will crack from pressure being applied concrete is not very flexible thus will crack then you have small shards that can puncture the liner

incredible pallet. love that weathered limestone. Nice gentle trickle coming down that rock face.
