Storing an un-used pump

I keep mine in a 55 gallon drum filled with water in my basement. I found I have better luck not having them seize up in the spring if I keep them wet.

@mrsclem Thank you, as well, and I thought I'd read somewhere about storing them in water -- that's why I wanted to post this question as that's not practical for these parts.

External pump, smear some lubricant on the o ring, stick on shelf

It's this one from Home Depot -- 3600 gph. Total Pond, I believe, is the brand.

I use a small tub of plumbers silicone to keep the o ring lubricated when it is stored for the winter. Found in the pvc section of lowes

@addy1 I hope you meant "tube" instead of "tub!" That would be a LOT of plumber's silicone for one little "O" ring.... :eek:
It is actually a little tub of it, maybe an inch in size. I need to find where i stuck it.
