My brother has a decorative stream that runs to a very deep and large pond. The pond shows no signs of string algae, but it is accumulating in the stream. Any treatment suggestions? I can only think of weeding...maybe a barley bale at the top of the stream...

Don't worry about the string algae, it will go away on it's own. In the meantime you can pull out excess by hand.
