Hi,
I've got a half barrel water feature, with a small fountain in, and a couple of plants, what's the best way to get rid of string algae?
Thanks.

@Graeme
Yep more plants will suck up the excess nutrients so the algae can't compete.

Floating plants will also shade out much of the algae. Lemna and Azolla are good plants for this.

Hello and welcome!

Same advice, pull it out (carefully, remove from the roots and stems), and use more plants. Do you have any fish?

Hi, no I don't, cos its only a half whisky barrel. Have been thinking about getting a couple of snails, would they work? Or will they eat everything insight?
