That's basically mine. Never had to unclog it
Mesh bag over it. If area it covers is large enough, I imagine how it
I bought my system from a guy who modified cages and pvc to make great
prefilters. Also included Venturi aeration fixtures. Mesh of bag is fine
enough to keep any fry out, but never enough to clog bag. Bag is black
plastic netting with drawstring at top.
Does he have a website or does he do long distance jobs?
Sadly, he disappeared a couple years back. I found his old pages from
Have you a pic of the unit?
If you are referring to my post, here is original diagram of setup I
I was refering to the setup. Thanks for the illustration.
I usually recommend, to prevent clogging as much as possible. to put a pump in a cheap plastic basket and then you can cut the plastic to fit around the cord. I don't normally like the idea of sponge or fine netting. I think of how often my shower drain clogs from hair. I prefer gravel, pebbles, something like that around a pump. Again, it's about surface area. If your basket is big enough, if some pebbles get clogged up the water hopefully makes it past some other gravel. But even if it gets dirty, you merely lift the basket up and pour out the gravel, wash it off and drop the pump back in the water with clean gravel. I also agree that a bucket with holes in it as a good idea. Especially if it has a lid. Just drill lots of holes, so if one gets clogged, water goes in others. https://www.fountainmountain.com/
Doubt if they are seeing this, Mike. This thread is 9 years old.
