My submersible pump has a short in the cord where the cord enters the pump housing. Can it be repaired?

Not an electrician but I would say no. Damage to the cord where it is in the water can cause the water to be charged and kill fish- and shock people. Been there- not good. How old is the pump? This is why most pump manuals tell you not to lift the pump by the cord.

Glad to hear two electricians agreeing with what I would have said - totally not worth it. A few hundred dollars for a new pump is worth not electrocuting yourself or someone else a million times over.

Yes it can be repaired. But, if you have to ask if it can. Then don't. Most submersible pumps are sealed units with no access, those that can be taken apart and repaired are usually quite expensive to just throw away, and buy another.
