Hi. I was not able to open my small, 9x16x4' deep pool this year and tiny frogs got in there and made babies. I live in central Massachusetts, it is getting cold out, the pool is now full of algae and I need help getting these fellas healthy and out. They are finally starting to grow legs. I can't afford to run the filter or get a heater and have lost the battle with algae. Barley straw has not helped. Can anyone recommend an affordable product to remove the algae while not hurting the tadpoles? I think they are tree frogs. I have been feeding them cucumbers and boiled Romaine. Should I get oxygen tabs to toss in to help for their breathing? I don't see them struggling yet but the algae is getting worse. On cold nights, they stay on the bottom. I tried to cover the pool to kill the growth but that didn't work. I read that Hydrogen Peroxide could help but I worry about dumping it in. Is that really a solution? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated. You can also send a response to (e-mail address removed). Thank you. I will also post to the relevant section.

At this point, i would leave the algae for them to eat. Nature should take care of them over winter and come spring you will have lots of new pets. You can always add an air stone just below the surface to keep an opening in the colder months.
