My ex did not want our home so I inherited our approx 6500 gal pond, which I love. It has been clean and clear the last few years, and is looking really good, but the filtering system is pretty much ready to fall apart. I am attaching a couple pics to show you what I am working with.
There is a skimmer basket with a filter that leads to the pump holding area...then there is a bigger filter also leading to the pump filter area. There is also a sand filter. I tried to mark everything on the pic. My ex was really good at rigging and designing things to work with very little money. Hence, the 5-gal bucket for one filter, a big plastic bin for the larger filter, a pool filter, etc.
It has worked pretty good all these years, but the big filter (the 2'x3") is ready to fall apart. I have to pull the big filter out once a week to hose it down and it is basically being held together with plastic ties. The outside has been repeatedly screwed back together. And I struggle pulling it up and out and cleaning it. The inside of the filter needs to be replaced every so often and it's a huge problem for me.
So.... I am thinking of selling the house and want my pond filter/pump system to be easier for the potential buyers. I also want it to be easier for me to clean. I think I may be able to find a welder/fabricator to make a new housing for that larger filter, but don't know if I should go that route or get the whole system replaced.
Any ideas? Your thoughts and suggestions appreciated. Don't know what to do! Thanks so much. Here's some pics.
