I am concerned about the current draw. That is a lot for an 1100GPH pump. My Beckett W1150 draws 1/4th that and is what I am using for the doc bio filter. It pumps 1100GPH.

DrDave, you're talking about the power consumption, I assume? Thanks for the heads up. I'll look into some more efficient pumps, then; at 1/4 the power consumption, I bet the energy savings would more than make up for the purchase price of a new pump! :)

Check the classified section of this forum, there are a few members that sale pond equipment. It might save you money and they have great knowledge. dodad is one

Take a broom, or any stick (not pointed lol) and stick it into the pond and see where you hit bottom, unless frozen like mine is. That will give you an idea of the gallons.

Thanks, Addy. I'll check the classifieds, then, and keep that tip in mind for when the pond thaws out again.. Sadly the temperatures here dropped back into the 0-20F range, so it's frozen solid. Geeze, I've barely gotten started and I'm already anxious for spring to come. How do you all survive winter every year? Lol!

Gorgeous fish, koiguy, thanks for sharing! That's one way around the winter humdrum, for sure. I have never had luck with fish indoors, but I may have to give overwintering indoors a try someday, once I'm more disciplined in fish care.
