I went to San Antonio last week and went to the Japanese Tea Gardens. I was impressed at how clean and large the pond was. It isn't in the nicest part of town, but it was still a relaxing place. Here are some pics.

Here is a large roof... thing... What's the word?

Here are a couple of nice sized koi fish.

Here is a koi following the currents of the pond. Do koi fish do that often?

The water is only 2 to 3 feet deep i believe, so it may be easier to clean. I really liked the way the koi, goldfish, turtles, ducks, and frogs seemed to all live peacefully in the same place. The plantlife really went well with the water and colors of the koi too. I may show more pics of it too, if you people want.

More pics would be great. The Tea Garden looks like a place I'd enjoy seeing.I'll never get to Texas but seeing your pictures would be the next best thing. I just noticed the bridge. Are the sides of thea bridge covered in vines?

This garden was opened up on the site of an abandoned limstone quarry so much of the leftover rock was used and incorporated into the design. Beautiful pictures! I've been to San Antonio many times but never stopped there. Looks like I'll have to put in on my list for the next time I visit.

What a marvelous place! THANK YOU for the photos...

and, yes, koi will swim in currents the way you saw. They are river fish and they love fast moving currents.

wild carp would probably get along with koi and goldies but i would fear them carriers of disease that domesticated fish may not of developed or lost immunities to. just a thought.
