I have twenty in my 365 gallon pond. They seem to do a good job keeping things cleaned up, and they also are part of the balance in the ecosystem of my pond.

I am guessing that it would be a bad idea to add the trap door snail to my pond if the idea of a algea coating on the walls of my pond is appealing to me?

Fred,

Actually, the snails will never be able to eat enough of the algae to make the lack of algae a concern. As well as creating some balance in your pond, algae will assist in the diet and health of all habitating your pond.
