i just found 3 box turtle eggs in the water in Alphie’s side of the bog! Alphie is my only female. Kept thinking they were the white river stones that I use. But then it dawned on me: they were much whiter than the rocks (not covered with algae), and they were all 3 the exact same shape and size. Ding, ding, ding, ding!

Problem is, they are almost certainly unfertilized. And I’ve read that when they lay in water, it’s a sign of infertile eggs. Well, maybe it’s not a problem because I just don’t have it in me to raise more babies. And I have 7 turtles — I don’t need any more turtles.

I have a call in to someone, so maybe, if there is a chance that they are fertile, someone else can hatch them — and maybe release them in the wild.
