UV versus Bacteria

hi

I am new to the forum but have set up a pond which appears to have no problems.
The thing I would like to know is I have a pressure filter with an 11 watt UV, and have introduced a bacteria booster but surely the UV will kill all the bacteria I have introduced. After introduction I switched the UV of for 3 days.

Can I leave the UV on or will it kill all my "good bacteria"?

Welcome!
Your nitrifying bacteria are located on all submerged surfaces, so your UV won't affect them.
The addition of a bacteria booster is not necessary.

I would only use the UV if you have an algae problem. The replacement bulbs can be expensive.
