Don't know what kind of frogs they are but they are very small and very loud. How long will this matting last?
Also how to keep them away from the pond.

Here in northeastern PA frogs always appear in our pond. Sometimes they are very vocal and I like the sound. We also get those tiny tree frogs that mrsclem mentioned. The tree frogs get really loud when it gets hot out. I personally like all natural sounds. Birds, frogs, even the howling wind!
The one thing I can't stand is the neighbor that ties his two yipping little dogs outside for hours on end. They never stop that annoying yippy little barking. You would think their throats would get sore.

It is amazing how something so small can make such a loud call. Regarding the dogs, that is very sad treatment.

We have neighbors that raise Jack Russells. Their yard is fenced like a prison to keep them in. The constant barking has already caused 2 families to move.

That's just horrible.
You wonder about these type of people. Don't they realize they're basically disturbing the peace? Don't they have any regard for their neighbors?
I guess not...
Just selfishness...and cruelty of animals. It's just a business for them. Raise the dogs then sell them off.

In my pond I rarely get frogs actually in the pond. I have no water lilies in my pond as they dont like swimming where the Koi are so big (and mine are big). I have my above ground filter covered with a fine mesh to stop frogs laying eggs in it. I have tree frogs of course which make a noise all summer.

You built a pond thinking there would be no frogs?

haha! Right?

Also how to keep them away from the pond.

Short of emptying it, I doubt you'll find a way to keep frogs from enjoying what you built for them. You did build it for them, right?

When we were building our pond, we got the liner in the pond and then quit for the day. We had a light rain that night and when we got back out to work the next morning we already had two or three frogs happily sitting in the wet folds of the newly installed liner. Had to break it to them that we weren't quite open for business yet! If you build it, they will come!
