Haven't gotten into Dexter, but I do like Homeland..
I'll have to check Homeland out as I've not heard of it. I don't have HBO or Showtime on my t.v so whatever I watch of those channels I watch through the internet. Not paying the extra price Comcast wants for them. I just watch a day later than those that have them.
A good hd antenna and the internet you can get away with no subscribed tv. We do have dtv, no extra packages though. Honey likes the ease of flipping channels, might change all that when he is no longer working.
Wish I could get my hubby to get rid of cable and do that but I don't think so. We tried to watch Boardwalk Empire online but came on jerky so now he will download it on cd's and we'll watch it that way. Most stuff comes in quite good. Now watching the series Little Dorrit and Boss.
If we just kept internet service and got rid of cable tv and phone we could save some bucks. Could use a cheap phone service like Oohma or whatever you call it to plug into pc. There are others out there also. And like addy says use a good HD antenna for local stuff.
We use majic jack, works great, it sends the message to your email account of any messages left, so can listen from anywhere via your email, or dial the number. For a whole 19 a year, I paid for 5 years, I think it was 60 dollars.

The End Begins.
Sunday, June 30th at 9PM ET/PT on Showtime.
Hanna is back this year too.
Did not know that koiguy. I watch it online as I don't have Showtime. Can hook my netbook up to it and watch it on the big screen!
SO WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE WAY THEY ENDED THE SERIES?
I didn't like the sister thing, made me sad and felt so bad for Dex but all can't be rosy red in serial killer land. Every time I thought it was the end something else would come back on the screen. I thought for sure he was a goner. They left him looking like he could be working here in our area. Could it be he will come back to us again someday? I like that they left it open like that. Kind of a happy ending in one way but maybe not so much in another way. Sure don't know how they would bring it back tho. What else can they do? Leaves it open to your imagination and mine is running wild! What did you think?
WELL just cuz hes in a different country doesnt mean hes gonna stop his dark passenger from appearing. or do you think he may have let him go with the boat? yeah, they could have done a scene from a couple years down the road. him, Hanna, and Harrison living in Argentina, house on the beach, etc.. maybe hinted at Harrison taking after dear ol' dad..you know what they say...the family that kills together, chills together. it is open for a reunion. maybe a feature length movie....i'd see it!
I have watched since day one, since then it's been my favorite show. I didn't even plan on watching the night it premiered I just happened to be watching The Amityville Horror remake and it was on right after. I was hooked from the first episode!
I thought the first season was one of the smartest shows on tv at the time but as early as Season 2 I realized that Dexter was going to be hit and miss for me. I enjoyed every season but Season 1 (Ice truck), Season 3 (tree truck/Miguel Prada, and Season 4 (Trinity) were real standouts.
I was disappointed not only with the final episode but the eighth season as a whole just felt rushed and wrong. Maybe airing in the Summer was some of it but it just seamed like they made some odd decisions like adding so many new characters (Masuka's Daughter was a good example of a new character storyline that went nowhere) instead of giving more screen time to the veterans and tying up story lines.
The final episode was just about as disappointing as the season. I knew it couldn't end happily ever after but I just felt like it was a cop out. I figured Deb would get killed off and Dexter and Hannah would not run away together but some of the decisions just seemed odd and out of character. Like Dexter trusting Vogel and Zach so early on, or him thinking he was too much trouble for a family and Harrison yet he leaves the kid with another serial killer, and Hannah not killing Elway on the bus but instead sedating him and leaving him to tell all that he witnessed her with Dexter's Son. I thought had she killed Elway it would have looked a lot more protective of Harrison mama grizzly style.
I would have at least liked it to end with him driving the boat into the storm with Deb still on board and not dumping her in the ocean even though I got the symbolism, final kill and all. It definitely left a lot to think about but I think the look in Dexter's eyes on the final scene told me he had not silenced his Dark Passenger yet and there my be more Dexter in some form in the future.
I think I read somewhere that the writers wanted the show to end last season and to me that would have made more sense coming full circle, Laguerta shoots Dexter and Deb shoots Laguerta and lives with the aftermath raising Harrison. The Dark Passenger would have been born in a storage container and died in one.
With all that said there was not a single episode that didn't keep me on the edge of my seat and it still remained my favorite show throughout it's entire run.
I even named my cat Dexter Morgan and while he doesn't quite live up to his serial killer namesake but he's still trouble from time to time.
I think you've got it right Nick. After Deb died I think Dexter's dark passenger returned if it ever really left and is waiting inside and ready to kill again. I vote bring back Dexter!
I'M WONDERING IF MICHEAL C HALLS HEALTH IS WHY THEY ENDED THE SHOW...MAYBE HIS CANCER RETURNED?
I've watched some recent interviews and He is still working on a few movies and most of them seem like similar dark subject matter. If health was an issue he still seems busy.
OH NO DON'T TELL ME IT'S YOU KOIGUY :yikesu:
